Construction objects

     Since 1997 JSC GT Morstroy has been involved in more than 70 projects. On this page we note some interesting objects to demonstrate our capabilities:


      Building of the railway ferry Ust-Luga — Baltiysk, which connected in 2006 Kaliningrad region with the main territory of the Russian Federation and became a solution of strategic problem for the Russian Federation.

      We are proud of our participation in this project as general designer of both ferry complexes and as one of the main contractors of the Ust-Luga ferry quay building.

      The constructed ferry complexes can serve two types of ferries — «Mukran-103» and «Rider» due to the unique structure of the railway lifting/crossover bridge.

      The ferry line has a calculated freight turnover of 3.5 million tons of railway cargoes and 2 million tons of automobile cargoes per year. 


      In Kirishi, Leningrad region, on the Volkhov River, by the order of Production Association Kirishinefteorgsynthez Ltd., we designed and constructed within two months the specialized berth for transshipment of large-sized and heavy equipment from the river transport to the automobile transport of petroleum refinery.

     The berth and temporary equipment storage area are designed for a load of 15 t per sq. m.


     From 2002 to 2006, Taganrog ship repair yard carried out stepwise reconstruction and overhaul of mooring facilities of the ship repair wharf located in the Repair basin of the Taganrog Sea Commercial Port.

     Berths, that we newly designed and constructed, are used for transshipment of grain and fluid cargoes. The total length of constructed berth section is 448 m. 


     During the period from 2002 to 2004, a LUCOIL-II petroleum products distribution and transshipment complex was designed and built.

     Our participation in this project consisted in the following: the design of the hydraulic part of the complex, the construction of mooring facilities and dredging works at the approach channel and operation water area.

     Hydraulic facilities of the complex (including dredging of the fairway) were constructed in one phase in record time. Hydroengineering works were started in April 2003 and completed in May 2004.

     The complex was commissioned in June 2004.

     The total scope of dredging works carried out within the period from 2003 to 2005 was about 1.25 million cubic meters, including about 46 thousand cub. m of rock, which was loosened by explosions.

     We managed to fulfill the stipulated task in time, without stopping the process of construction and operation of the port’s mooring facilities, and we ensured safety in all the works carried out.


      The concept of the Petersburg Oil Terminal stepwise development allowed the freight turnover to be improved from 2 million tons per year in 1996 to 12 m t per year in 2006.

     6 berths were modernized and newly built at the terminal.

     Berth No. 112 «a» intended for mooring and servicing sea tankers of a deadweight of up to 30 thousand tons and was designed in 1998, and constructed and commissioned in 1999.

     Berth No. 112 «b», «c» was step-by-step re-equipped for receiving and servicing tankers of deadweight of up to 25 thousand tons at the first stage, and up to 70 thousand t at the last stage — in 2000.

     Berths No. 1 and No. 2 are intended for mooring of «river-sea» class tankers with a deadweight of up to 7 thousand tons. They were designed in 1999 and commissioned in 2000.

     Berths No. 3 and No. 4 are intended for mooring and servicing of «river-sea» class tankers of a deadweight from 3 to 100 thousand tons. The berths were designed in 2000 and commissioned in 2003. 


     The offshore transshipment complex «Belokamenka», completed according to our plan, is intended for pumping oil from shuttle tankers to transporting tankers with the use of a storage tanker.

     For the first time in Russia, a storage tanker of a deadweight of 360 thousand t was placed at a specially equipped offshore berth.

     At the moment of creation of the complex, the load capacity of this tanker equaled one fourth of the total capacity of the entire tanker fleet under the Russian flag.

     In the process of development of crucial solutions, relatively complex natural conditions, including wind and the significant dimensions of the tanker were taken into account.

     The offshore transshipment complex layout scheme developed and realized had not been applied earlier anywhere in the world. Its special feature is the high holding characteristics of anchors upon soft ground, and at the same time, the simplicity of approaching and mooring of other vessels to the storage tanker. 


     As our first experience in creation of passenger and yacht complexes, one can take the construction of the quayage for the Katti Sark International Regatta.

     During two months, two kilometers of mooring facilities were designed and constructed. After regatta part of berths was dismounted, and some of them are used till now. 


     The active phase of a major project of creation of the greatest passenger ferry complex in Europe — «Sea Façade» — started after development and endorsement by all state bodies of its construction feasibility study. Within the framework of this project, we carried out the works connected with general design of the ferry complex at the project (feasibility study) stage, as well as all state property objects: the approach channel, operation and maneuvers water area, and navigation equipment.

     As builders we are working on construction of the mooring hydraulic facilities of the terminal.

     In 2006, we carried out the works connected with mounting of navigation equipment beacons at the reconstructed approach channel for passage of vessels to the terminal.

     Beacons are located in Gulf of Finland water area about 7 km off the shore line. Construction and mounting works were carried out in autumn under bad weather conditions with frequent storms, but this did not prevent us from completing the full scope of works within 2 month.
